1. Prepare the Planting Hole

The first step to planting a rose is to dig a hole slightly wider than the rose’s root ball. Generally, about 15 to 18inches deep by 18 to 24 inches wide holes will be perfect. Also, make sure to mix a handful of phosphate into the soil you removed and save it for refilling the hole later. Additionally, avoid filling anything else at the time of planting. Once the plant has settled, the graft union should be thoroughly buried, about 1 to 2 inches underground.
