Ways Other Than Googling to Find Anything You Need

Despite complaints about browsing privacy issues, Google remains the leading search engine for many users, as it currently has a market share of over 94% of desktop and mobile searches. However, Google is not the only search engine you can use to find anything you need. There are various alternative search engines with excellent functionalities to find relevant content.

Why Use Search Engine Sites Other Than Google?

  • Because it’s interesting not to blindly trust only one source, right?
  • Because there are search engines that respect your privacy better. Don’t you feel a bit controlled?
  • Because maybe, in other alternative search engines, if we are advertisers, it is more profitable for us to advertise.
  • Because you’re doing research and you can’t find all the information you’d like on Google

The truth is that we don’t know, nor are we going to open a debate about whether some are better than others as Google is still the king. But we are going to share with you all the information that we have been collecting from one site and another. Below we leave the sources.

Although when thinking of alternatives, the first thing that comes to mind is Google’s direct rivals such as Bing or DuckDuckGo, the truth is that there are many more. For those users who are looking for an alternative to Google, here is a list of several alternative search engines:

Yahoo!

Although it was one of the most important search engines, it currently only has 3.5% of the market share. However, it is still important in the United States, as it is one of the best places to search for news, according to its users.

After a long series of trial and error when using different search engines for its results, Yahoo! has agreed with Microsoft that the results provided by Bing will be displayed in the search engine. Yahoo! is also the search engine that comes by default with the Mozilla Firefox browser.

Undeniably, Yahoo is an excellent alternative to Google. In addition, the engine is integrated with Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Finance, and Flickr, a company that they have recently acquired. Yahoo! includes privacy conditions that, although not ideal, do compromise users less than those of Google.

It is also important that we highlight the Yahoo Local and Yahoo Weather services, which will show us the business hours of the various businesses in the locality that interests us, as well as the weather forecast.

Bing

Bing is a product of the Microsoft giant and has a significant market share in the United States. You can accumulate points and get Microsoft Rewards prizes just by using your browser. It has a search engine very similar to Google but with more image search filters and it is considered to be one of its advantages. If you are an advertiser, it is an alternative to reach exclusive users. Bing includes the ability to track flights, calculations, and other metrics.

Bing has Bing Ads, which is something like an equivalent of Google Ads but in the Microsoft search engine. There are also services such as Bing Finances or Bing Events. It also integrates with devices running some version of Windows or an Apple operating system. If you are looking for an alternative to Google, this is it, unless you need additional privacy.

DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo is a search engine that is currently booming due to its commitment to maintaining the privacy of its users. DuckDuckGo obtains its results from various sources and does not keep any type of history of your searches to offer personalized results.

The search data is obtained from Bing, Yandex, and other search engines to finally be displayed in a way in which the privacy of the user is guaranteed. It is a free project, so you can find it and access it easily.

The Firefox browser already offers the ability to add DuckDuckGo as a default search engine option. It is also possible to search by voice. DuckDuckGo is an excellent option for those users who do not want to sacrifice their privacy with every search they perform. From here you can access the search page.

The search engine that does not track activity takes great care of the privacy of its users, therefore it avoids advertising tracking networks. You can surf with peace of mind no matter where it takes you.

Dogpile

Dogpile was one of the first browsers to base its searches on processing the results of other search engines, be those links, images, or videos.

This metasearch engine combines different results from popular search engines (About, Ask.com, FindWhat, Google, LookSmart, MSN Search, Yahoo!, Bing and others) eliminating those that are repeated. In addition, DogPile is faster than other search engine sites. It offers super performance which has improved page load times by as much as 50%.

Dogpile allows you to apply search filters and save results as favorites, in addition to organizing content into categories. Since it is not possible to select this search engine as the default one in most of the existing browsers, there is a bar that we can install, or open every time to conduct a search.

Other alternatives

Sometimes, you can go to specialized resources to find the things you need. For example, with Leadar, finding employees and contacts is very easy and quick. Apart from that, if you want to look up an unknown number, use PhoneHistory. Unsplash will help you find free images of great quality. And YouTube is, of course, a great source for tutorials on basically anything.
